Just because Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of Summer are upon us doesn’t mean that the knitting has to stop! In fact, the knitting itself is taking on the “easy living” vibe that we all love about the Summer season:
That’s right, some good old-fashioned garter stitch in the perfect nautical palette. Recently, the Yarn Harlot blogged about how comforting garter stitch is – like the soothing stability of oatmeal. I couldn’t agree more, and when you combine the simplicity of garter stitch with the yumminess of Madelinetosh Pashmina (yes, people, I’m using it again. This can’t be a surprise.) and the classic tones of ivory and sapphire, you’re bound to be a happy knitter.
The idea for this new uniquely shaped shawl design came to me in my favorite way – like a bolt of lightning, or like a “coup de foudre,” as the French call it. I’m already planning another sample in another favorite color combo – gray and neon pink! 🙂
Right now, it’s in the early stages as I get the test knitters lined up and actually figure out the pattern as I work my own sample (HA!) but I’m hoping to fast track this one so that you can all enjoy some simple, soothing, easy, breezy summer knitting before the summer is too far gone!
Happy holiday weekend to everyone and to those serving in the military, who deserve to be recognized more than just one day a year, thank you.
I can’t wait to see the “finished product”…smile! I hope that your weather is conducive to weekend FUN, and thank you for your acknowledgment of the gifts that our military have afforded us all…….
The colors look great, and I agree. Garter stitch is fun, and relaxing too.
Unlike many, I knit year round. The Summer heat doesn’t stop me. My hands would go crazy if I didn’t keep them busy. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing the end result of your “lightning flash.” 🙂
