I don’t mind admitting that I love snow.
And why shouldn’t I? Of course I know that it can be cold, messy, and disruptive. But it can also be an appropriate (and welcome) harbinger of the season, as much as a robin in Spring, a rose in Summer, or a red maple leaf in the Fall.
Even more, maybe it’s also a reminder that in a world that appears to be speeding up and changing more every day, some things really do stay the same.
So who wouldn’t want to trudge out, shin-deep and wearing two pairs of socks, into the drifts that are glinting in that post-storm sunshine? Into a muffled world where commuting and schedules are pushed aside in favor of sleds and snowballs? Especially when that freshly fallen snow is beckoning to you on a Saturday morning deep in the heart of winter.
Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels this way.
Here’s to a snowbound weekend. Thanks, Nemo.
