Mom and I had a wonderful whirlwind weekend, and here are just a few fun photos from last Friday and Saturday. (Sadly, it turns out that I’m a bad photographer when it comes to actually capturing what happens AT Rhinebeck. To wit: I do not have a single picture with Natalie, Christine, Bristol, Anne, or Elizabeth! I guess I’ll just have to go back next year to correct this!)
the Delamater – next door to the “Gables House” where we stayedthe village of Rhinebeck – funnily enough, this picture doesn’t convey how hectic the streets were or how awesome the local boutiques are, but it’s a lovely mecca for shopping and eating, of which we did plenty at both Terrapin and Calico!a full moon – a good omen for all the knitters pouring into Rhinebeck?the early birds get the worm – and get to stand on line for pottery haha!don’t worry – i didn’t escape the fairgrounds without some hot cider in hand!the weather was amazing the whole weekend. and so was the foliage!more foliage – sorry, i was obsessed.yep – more trees.the briar rose fibers booth – i didn’t have a chance to stop in, but i love those massive hanks of yarn and so did everyone else who was snapping them up!!bittersweet ridge’s lovely scented soap display, especially the rosemary mint….the word is that approximately 47,000 people came to the fair on Saturday. boy, do i believe it.and now for the haul, minimal though it is: you know how i feel about golden yarn. I blame Natalie and Mom. these beauties are from Spirit Trail.mmmmm….silvery aran weight cormo from Foxhill Farm. a bit of an impulse purchase but: a sweater, perhaps?more in a later post about a collaboration with Sue of Spirited Fibers and these lovely skeins. it’s a dreamy worsted weight merino, perfect for hats!and a memento of the annual pilgrimage, courtesy of Jennie the Potter. thanks, Mom!
Pretty great, yes? And up next time: a deluge of pictures from our tour of FDR’s home at Hyde Park!
All I have to say is how fortunate for Rhinebeck, that their foliage was so very lovely. Here, the trees are bare naked, and have been for about 2 weeks or so. Your photos are really lovely. I’m glad you had such a good time too. For me, the crowds were about 37,000 people too many. LOL Just thinking about all those people makes me cringe! Brrrr. And no you have another full year to get ready for the next festival at Rhinebeck! 🙂
Looks like a beautiful weekend ! And fun!

I loved meeting you last weekend – and utterly failed to take photos either!
