Crocheting, Designing, General, Knitting

blogiversary!

(I think I made that word up, not sure….)

Anyway, happy 1st blog anniversary to me! That went fast, didn’t it?? I can’t believe that a whole year has zoomed by since I screwed up enough courage to start this little blog and I’m so grateful for all of the kind comments, great readers, positive energy, and good humor that flows through this little corner of the world.

While this blog is about a lot of subjects, from everyday life to travel and trips, from cooking to crocheting to Coco The Fearless MWD Mascot, there is an awful lot more about the subject of knitting than anything else, and it’s been a truly exciting and eventful 12 months for me on the knitting and design fronts! From getting involved in the awesome Independent Designers Program at Knit Picks (and another cute pattern was just released with them, so stay tuned!), to getting published in Interweave Knits Winter 2011, Knitscene Spring 2012, and Interweave Knits Spring 2012, this was a fantastic year for me as I was able to branch out and share my work with outside publishers. Expanding in this area and getting the opportunity to work more with these creative companies and talented individuals is definitely a continuing goal for me. I think it’s always a challenge to come up with new ideas that also fit into an editor’s storyboard or vision for an upcoming magazine, and it’s definitely a thrill when the idea and the vision are symbiotic.

And on the self-publishing front, things are just as energetic. I love the quicker turn around time from imaginings to sketching and swatching to knitting and pattern writing. And before you know it, a year has passed and the blog has served as the launching pad for Agnes, Annecy, Augusta, Belle Epoque, Corinne, Hideaway, the Integral Mitts and matching Shawl, Refraction, and last but most certainly not least, the Zuni Shawl, a design whose enthusiastic reception in the knitting world has continued to astound me, encourage me, and inspire me to keep being creative. To Bob and Carol, who thought of me on their vacation and sent me that postcard of the beautiful Zuni woman who started the whole ball rolling in my mind: thank you. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings and I’ve got my sketchpad and knitting needles at the ready 🙂

To all of my readers and supporters, thank you SO much! Now, time for me to find some cake around here and celebrate…..

xoxo Danielle
