Quietude is a modern spin on the traditional cabled blanket. Cables flow in and out of ribbed columns, creating chevrons across the surface of the blanket, while eyelet cables lend a more delicate feeling to the finished fabric. Garter stitch ensures that the blanket edges lie flat. A solid or mostly solid color of yarn works best to highlight the rich texture in this design.
The blanket is worked flat in one piece in an aran-weight (or heavy worsted) yarn. The carriage blanket size is shown, and the pattern includes 2 larger sizes. The Cable Panel is written out and charted. For a custom-sized blanket, add or subtract horizontal repeats of the Cable Panel and work until the blanket is your desired length. Be sure to measure your working yarn before and after completing one repeat (i.e., 20 rows) of the Cable Panel to ensure that you have enough yarn for a custom size.
