mitts match

With this design, the decision is up to you!  The pattern includes charts and instructions for creating a matching pair of fingerless mitts OR a mismatched, but complementary, pair of mitts!

Thanks to the DK-weight yarn that I used for Mitts Match, I completed a pair of mitts in just a few days (perfect for a long holiday weekend)! And this DK-weight yarn is extra special, as it’s the softest and warmest Bespoke DK from Clinton Hill Cashmere. I was drawn to this combination of camel and scarlet because they’re timeless colors that will coordinate with lots of different coats during the winter, but Clinton Hill Cashmere has 23 shades to choose from; there’s even a neon yellow that you know I would happily pair with a fuchsia pink. Of course, this pattern works beautifully with the DK-weight yarn you’ve already got in your yarn stash, too!

Mitts Match are worked in the round from the lower cuff up to the top of the hand. The thumb gusset and hand are worked simultaneously with simple stranded colorwork, and the pattern includes links to online resources where you can learn more about stranded colorwork, floats, and reading colorwork charts.  The thumb stitches are held while the hand is completed and then the thumb is finished.

(I love how you can see the gentle halo of the Bespoke DK yarn in these photos, creating the softest fabric.)

I’m particularly pleased by how little yarn these mitts require. The pattern includes three teenage/adult sizes, with two charts for each size, so that you can create matching mitts or mismatched mitts. For a matching pair of mitts, you’ll need 100 yards or less of your main color and 50 yards or less of your contrasting color. For a mismatched pair, you’ll only need 75 yards or less of each color! In the pictures you see here, I only needed one skein of each color of Bespoke DK to complete all four of these medium-sized mitts!

So if you’re on the lookout for a fast, fun, and easy pattern to keep you and your loved ones warm this winter, Mitts Match will fit the bill.

You can find the Mitts Match pattern here at DCD and over here on Ravelry. To give these mitts a warm welcome, the pattern is 25% off, no code required, through Sunday, December 1st at midnight EST!

Happy knitting!
xoxo Danielle
